Job Description

Purpose and Scope of Position

The Business Analyst’s central responsibility is to act as a liaison to the internal user community, focused on optimizing workflows in accordance with established methodologies and best practices.  The candidate will identify and document business needs and translate those needs into formal Scope and Design documents, and assist with the testing and implementation of the developed solutions.  The candidate will also work to identify tools to increase efficiency in day-to-day activities and act as subject matter expert in future integrations and enhancements for Acuative’s internal systems.

The ability to communicate technical information both verbally and in writing to internal and external customers is of paramount importance.  The ability to work well with others, interpret established business rules and user requirements, and translate user needs into a technical design will also be crucial to success in this role.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities


Job Duties


  • Collaborate with users to capture business needs


  • Translate business needs into formal Scope and Design Documents


  • Work with development staff to participate in the solution design


  • Test applications for production releases


  • Manage application deployment schedules


  • Provide maintenance support for various systems


Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to interpret business processes and discern system issues from process issues
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to learn complex business rules
  • Aptitude in capturing business needs and translating into formal documentation
  • Strong project management skills
  • Experience with quality assurance and software testing practices
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information appropriately
  • Experience in using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Visio

Additional Qualifications Desired
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Computer Science or related field
  • Familiarity with Help Desk/ITSM systems, such as Cherwell, Remedy or ServiceNow
  • Experience in Incident management and ITIL fundamentals

Physical Demands
  • Must be able to work flexible hours
  • Must be able to work overtime when needed
